At the last the post meeting, the Boys and Girls State Post 28 Chairman resigned from the Boys and Girls State Post 28 Committee. This program is the largest and most costly of all the programs that our post has. We sent 10 young people to this program last year. The post commander appoints all committee chairman for the post and this one is one of the most active.
Boys and Girls State Chairman for Post 28 duties and responsibilities:
- Notify the school counselors of the dates of the program, and set the dates for interviews at the school sites.
- Contact the Post Boys and Girls State Committee members with the interview times and places.
- Upon selection; distribute and collect the registration “blue cards” from candidates. Return cards to the District Boys and Girls State Chairman.
- Remind the candidates of dates and orientation for the program.
The timeline for this program is to have interviews completed and candidates selected by March 1, 2024. The need for a chairman is important to the process. Many of us are willing to continue with the roles that we have filled in the past: “Many hands make light work!” I’m ready to help in any way that I can, and I know that Joe Noriel will help the new chairman in the transition. Please help in filling this important position. Talk to anyone you know who might be willing to fill this important committee position. Send any volunteers information to the current 5th District Boys and Girls State Chairman Jack Schipper at jandjschipper@hotmail.com or call (707) 304-3932.
